Who we are

Memkit is run by Remus Poon, an individual, who decides how your personal data is used and is the controller of it under UK data protection law. You can reach me at hello@memkit.club.

What we collect

Your account: your email address, your password (kept by our sign-in provider as a scrambled hash that we cannot read), your display name, your username, an optional profile photo, and an optional birthday.

What you share: the photos and captions you post, your comments and likes, the Kisses you send, the buttons you create, and who you are connected with, including streaks.

Safety: the people you block, and the reports you send, including the reason and any note you add.

Technical: the token your phone gives us so we can send notifications, and when your account was last active.

We do not collect your location, contacts or microphone, and we do not read your photo library. The app only sees a photo you take with the camera or choose as your profile photo.

Why we use it

To run Memkit: to sign you in, show your posts to your connections, deliver Kisses and send the notifications you allow.

To keep people safe: to review reports, remove content that breaks the Terms of Use, and ban accounts that cause harm.

We do not show ads, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell your data.

Who can see it

Other people on Memkit can see your display name, username and profile photo. The people you are connected with can see your posts, comments and likes. People you have blocked cannot find you.

Everything else stays with us and the services below.

Services that handle your data

Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and photo storage. Apple delivers notifications and distributes the app. Cloudflare hosts this website. Our server sends error alerts to a private chat channel; they contain technical details and internal IDs, never photos or emails.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. When they do, we rely on the safeguards the law requires, such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account from Settings, we delete your account, your photos and your profile photo, your comments, likes, connections and notification tokens. Short-lived backups may hold a copy for a limited time afterwards.

Reports you send are deleted with your account.

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. Most of this you can do yourself in the app, including editing your profile and deleting your account. For anything else, email hello@memkit.club.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

Memkit is for people aged 13 and over. If you think a child under 13 has an account, email us and we will delete it.

This website

This website does not use analytics or advertising cookies. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps standard request logs.

Changes

We may update this policy. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app.
